(fext 1)

M:You don't look very happy today.

W:Well, I wanted to go to the movies tonight but my parents are going out to dinner and I have to stay at home with my little brother.

(fext2)

M: Can you help me with this USB stick?

W: What's the problem?

M: I put some files on it,and now they don't show up.

(fext3)

M: Excuse me? How can I get to the Central Park by underground?

W: You can take the brown line to the Royal Street station. Then you'll have to walk 5 minutes. Here's also a bus which goes directly there.

M: I prefer the bus.

(fext4)

W:Have you watched the football match?

M:All I watch on TV these days is about it, actually. If it wouldn't be for the football, I don't think I'd have a TV at all.

(Text 5)

M: I've been interested in London's museums ever since I borrowed a book about them from the library.

W: You are at the right place. Books of various kinds are on sale these days.

M: I hope I can find a reasonably priced one here.

(Text 6)

M: We have a lot to do before we go camping. I talked to Kent and he said they'd bring the tent and some other things if we brought

the food.

W:OK. Let's have hamburgers.

M: Hamburgers sound great. Should we make some orange juice and some potato salad? We still have some potatoes at home. We need to get ice, too.

W: Yeah, I'll pick that up when I go shopping for the hamburgers. And don't forget to pack the pots and pans. Could you do that?

M: Sure.

(Text 7)

M: I'm as healthy as a horse! Anyone can see that.

W: John, you never know if everything is OK until you have checked it,do you?

M: Do you really think I look sick?

W: Of course not, but that's not the point. All they want is to be sure you won't fall down suddenly.

M:As long as it's a requirement, I suppose I should. It is part of teamwork, isn't it?

(Text 8)

W: What can I do for you?

M:I'm trying to find a present for my wife's birthday... Your jewelry's really beautiful—these designs must have taken you a lifetime to create.

W: Well, thank you! But I've actually only been in jewelry for a few years.0I was a nurse and had a bad back, so I was advised to try something lighter...

M: And took up jewelry.

W: Not immediately. I did an evening course in life drawing at a school of art, hard work but fun. Though it was kind of unexpected not having a regular pay,I've been very lucky because many people like my designs, so this made me sure I should continue ... Though it means some kind of of pressure, I find I do my best work when I'm under a bit of pressure actually.

(Text 9)

W: Hi, Eric, are you calling about the poster for our school's basketball match?

M: Yes. I like that design but I think we need to change some of the information. Firstly, I suggest we change the text entirely.I do think it's nice to challenge other players like that. We need to be more polite, Vicky.

W:OK.I understand.

M: And von've aot the addrecs wrona for the stadium.

W: Really? Isn't it on Main Road?

M: No, it's on Maple Road. I see that you have included the times on the poster.I don't think that's necessary. But you haven't added the dates yet.

W: No. Have you decided on the dates?

M: Yes, we have. We think the 21st and 22nd of July are the best days.

W: Right.Let me add that in now.

M: Good. I notice you've added your home phone number on the poster. If you do that, you're going to be getting non-stop phone calls at home. Also, sending a fax is not so convenient for some students. Your email address will be more than enough.

W:OK. I'll cut out both the phone number and fax number. cut out 删掉

M: Right. I think the poster is looking much better now. Have a look at it again and email it to me tomorrow, please.

W:OK, Eric.

(Text 10)

At that moment, I wished I were somewhere else. Dave and I started to run back towards the tent. Stupidly I thought that if only we could get in the tent we'd be safe!

M: What happened then?

W: Then we fell down and were covered with dirt. A moment later, everything stopped. We got up and realized that there wer t all around us. In fact, we'd fallen down into a hole and then were covered by falling trees. Dave tried to climb out of the holet it was too hot. Then, when we did get out we found everything was burnt down and was giving off a terrible smell. Well, the falling trees could easily have injured or killed us. Thank goodness we fell in that hole.

W: Excuse me. I'm waiting for the ten o'clock train. Is it leaving on time?

M: It is running thirty minutes late due to strong winds which blew a tree onto the line at three o'clock this morning.

(Text 3)

W: I don't like wearing all this safety equipment. It is heavy.

M: I don't either, but it does protect our lungs from the poisonous gases.

W: You're right. I just wish it were more comfortable.

(Text 4)

W: Excuse me. Could I have a ticket at half price? I have a student card.

M: Dad asked me to talk to you about all the exercising you've been doing. He thinks you've been doing a bit too much.

W:You know what the doctor said— if I don't get active, I could die of a heart attack.

M: Yeah, but I don't think he meant for you to do so much. You should take it slowly.Maybe you could build an exerciseis program that becomes more and more difficult as time goes by.

W: My guest this morning is actor Roger Henderson. Roger, welcome…

M: Thank you.

W: Now, you only became an actor three years ago, at 42, but your acting skills go back to your school days, don't they?

M: Even before that, actually. Until I started school, my mother used to take me to a dance group. I learned a ot about body movement there. Then, at the age of nine, I wrote my first play, which I wanted to perform on the school stage. But it never happened.

W: When you were 18, you had the choice of going to acting school or teacher training college. Why did you go for teaching? M: Well, T suppose I was persuaded by my parents. They were worried about my future, though I was confident I'd find my way as an actor. Even my English teacher was encouraging me to try acting, so it was a difficult decision.

W: Anyway, you spent 18 years in the classroom. What made you then turn to acting?

M: It was my wife who pushed me towards the stage.

W:And how did you get your first part?

M: Well, my wife and I went to see a new play and as I sat in the audience, I recognized the main actress. She was someone I'd taught several years earlier. Well, afterwards we talked and she introduced me to the play's director, who later offered me a wonderful role in another play by the same writer.

W: Lucky you! Then what is your big goal in life?

M: I suppose I should be happy to go on acting in plays, though my dream is to get into films.

W: Well, I wish you good luck, Roger.

M: Thanks.

M: t'm only asking because the new keys are often difficult to use at first. But after a few days, it will get beter. But we'll check the lock just in case there's a mistake. Any other problems?

W: Yes, there're two areas that need to be painted. It looks as if there was a table or desk there, and whoever was doing the painting just painted around it instead of moving it and painting the entire area. Please check the air-conditioner as well. It is so hot this summer but it doesn't work well.

M: I don't see how that can be. The whole building was painted just last summer. Anyway, we'll take care of it.
